Penanggalan

Here's my take on a Penanggalan (or Krasue in Thailand, or Leyak in Bali...), a typically female vampire from Malaysian folklore which has spread throughout Indonesia. Their name means "detach", or "remove", and comes from their main feature : at night they separate their floating head from their body, and start hunting for pregnant women and young children, with their organs dangling from their severed neck, sometimes acting like tentacles...
