Tzitzimitl

Here's my vision of a Tzitzimitl (plural form tzitzimime), a category of minor, exclusively female stellar deities from Aztec mythology ! They are told to be the daughters of Citlalicue, and the servants of Itzpapalotl, the goddess with obsidian wings, ruler of Tamaonchan, the paradise where humans were created, and where the victims of infant mortality go.
They're both fertility goddesses who protect midwives and women in pregnancy, and terrible "demonesses" who attack the sun and descend on Earth to prey on humans during solar eclipses and other periods of cosmic instability.
