Last summer, I got into JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and I found a lot of inspiration there. Not only for my big elaborate universe, regarding character designs and character development, but even for original stands (related to Tarot AND music, I liked both ideas), which would be attributed to people around me and to myself. I intend to do for each stand a small turn, with a 3/4 front view and a 3/4 back view, a more dynamic pose once the design is settled, as well as a JoJo-ified version of the users.
Here is the basic pose in 3/4 face of my personal Tarot stand, Obsidian Emperor (Obushidian Enpera in romaji) ! To select the arcanas of Tarot, I chose to base myself on possible connections made with the Zodiac. I found a page making the link, and in this case, the sign of Aries was associated with the arcana of the Emperor. Although Stardust Crusaders' stands rarely look like the figures from which they take their name, I preferred to slip in appropriate symbols (here, a crown, globus cruciger-shaped shoulder pads, and heraldic lilies).
For the associated material/colour, I chose obsidian, this volcanic rock whose appearance and symbolism I appreciate in Aztec culture. Indeed, these people made mirrors with this ore, and these objects were supposed to reveal the future, and/or the soul of people. These artifacts were also strongly associated with the sinister god Tezcatlipoca (already illustrated by me). I then gave an important part to these objects for this design.
Then I thought, "black, reflective surfaces get hot quickly when left in the sun...", and that gave me the idea of its power, which I'm going to explain.
Obsidian Emperor is a stand with high durability, strength, and accuracy, but its speed remains average. He can't move more than 3 meters away from me. Exposed to the sun, his mirrors absorb its energy, and can release powerful heat rays with a range of 25 meters (similar to those of the Martians imagined by H. G. Wells, but with a visible beam). If he finds himself in the shade, he can still shoot his rays for a minute, after which he only has to rely on his physical abilities, and his power to see for three seconds (real seconds, not anime seconds) in the future. But he is not always able to act properly despite his prescience, and must then rely on the fast Star Palladium to help him.
