Here's my vision of a Domovoi (or Domovoy, or Domowik), a rather famous house spirit from Slavonic folklore ! Small and very hairy, they rest behind the oven at day, and come out at night to clean the house and eat the offerings made by the family inhabiting it. They can turn into various animals, have a strong emotional connection to their "masters", and forebode future events, such as the death of a member of the family, or any danger threatening the house. To warn the owners, they go on their chest at night when they're lying in their bed, and if it's not enough, they can become noisy, and violent towards the livestock. Domoviye can do the same, or even leave the house, when the family they're attached to is corrupted by bad behavior.
Exclusively male, the Domoviye are seen as the spouses of Kikimoras, female house spirits living beneath stoves or in cellars.
