Baital

Here is my take on the Baital (or Vetala), an hindu vampire/ghoul which, instead of drinking blood, feeds on the corpses that are buried under the mimosa tree where it "lives". It hangs upside down to its tree to sleep and meditate, just like a bat ; sometimes, Baital are said to be evil spirits that possess corpses rather than some sort of vampire/ghoul. One Baital told many stories ending with riddles to a legendary king named Vikram, and those tales inspired the Arabian Nights.
