Rakshasa

Here's my take on a Rakshasa (or Raksasa), the typical lesser demon from Hindu mythology ! They disturb ceremonies, harass priests, possess people, and are fond of human flesh, even if it's rotten. Rakshasas were born from the breath of Brahma, but immediately started to eat their creator, and so, Vishnu banished all the demons on Earth.
Some of them are more human-looking, with great magic powers, and some aren't actually evil. In Hinduism, their king is Ravana, who has his citadel on the isle of Lanka ; he is sometimes considered as a Rakshasa, sometimes as an Asura, a wrathful kind of deities that often opposes Devas. In Nepalese mythology though, they're all seen as protective spirits. Rakshasas are thought to have partially inspired the onis of Japanese folklore.
